Two of the leading local charities, Cash for Kids and The Sunshine Fund have teamed up with Ant and Dec to appeal for Superheroes across the North East!

Cash for Kids Superhero Day, which will take place on Friday 15th May, will see individuals, businesses, shops, schools and colleges across the region become superheroes for one day by raising funds for disabled and disadvantaged children.

The boys, who are patrons of both Cash for Kids and The Sunshine Fund, are backing the campaign and will return to their home-town on the special day to feature in Metro Radio’s Breakfast Show to rally the North East community.

“We’re delighted that Ant and Dec have embraced this fantastic day, no doubt the Breakfast Show will sound very different with those two in charge!" said Cash for Kids. "They are ambassadors for this region and for both of our charities and we want the people of the North East to get behind this campaign and make them proud. Both Cash for Kids and The Sunshine Fund provide vital support to children right here on our doorstep and we hope we can count on the generous community to join us and become our Superheroes.”

“This is going to be a great day for the North East and we’re really excited to be involved," said The Sunshine Fund. "Ant and Dec are passionate about helping local children and all of the money raised on the day will stay right here in this region to improve the lives of disabled and sick children. We would urge every school, company, college and business to dust off their capes and masks for one day and make this a day to be proud of.”

There are many ways to get involved in Cash for Kids Superhero Day, whether that’s dressing up for the day, sponsored activities, bake-days, donating proceeds, adding £1 on bills, dare-devil challenges, work whip-rounds, the crazier the better.

Some local companies have already registered at super-speed to show off their Superhero credentials. Bad Apples Dance Academy in Blyth will be dancing all day dressed as superheroes, PC World in Kingston Park will be running a tombola, cake stall and all staff will be dressed up, while Princes Court Care Home in North Shields will be running a coffee morning and a fancy dress competition.
