Backstage with the boys

As the first in the brand new series of Britain’s Got Talent burst onto our screens last weekend, the BGT backstage team caught up with the lads to get their lowdown on the new judges - and the return of the one-and-only Mr Simon Cowell.

"The new panel are really working well together," Ant told the team. "I think David’s come straight in and it’s as if he’s been a judge for years!... He judges well and also he takes the mick out of Simon, which we all love.

"Alesha is great," Ant added. "We could see she was a good judge anyway from being on Strictly, but I think she has really kind of hit the ground running... They’ve all got on well together and they have all worked well with Amanda."

Thankfully, before they face this feisty new panel of course,  our contestants get to meet some friendly new faces before they take to that stage - queue Ant & Dec themselves with that all important pre-life-changing-audition-advice!

"We've been in their position," Dec explained. "We know what it's like to audition and have to perform for somebody."

And one certainly needs that advice prior to a meeting with Simon...

"Simon’s back..." Ant sighed. "Even though it pains me to say it, it’s a really good thing, because he is just good."
