So here we are then, our first blog of the New Year. Come to think of it, our first blog of the new decade! So, despite the fact that we’re heading towards the end of January, it would seem just a tad inappropriate if we didn’t kick off wishing you all a very, very (slightly delayed) happy new year! May 2010 be a cracker for us all!
We’ve had an absolutely amazing start to the year, and that’s purely down to all of you. We want to pass on our HUGE thanks to everyone that voted for us at the National Television Awards. We are absolutely amazed that Saturday Night Takeaway won Best Entertainment Programme and we’re so touched that you all still like it so much. It’s a show that means the world to both of us and to have it recognised at an award ceremony where all the votes come from the TV viewers themselves is just fantastic. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Saturday Night Takeaway WILL be back…we have way too much fun making it!
Also, we somehow managed to scoop the Best Entertainment Presenters for the ninth year in a row. The ninth year in a row!! Honestly, on the way there we were saying to ourselves how there was no way we were going to win it again. It’s such an honour, and again, we can’t thank everyone that voted enough. Best of all, winning two awards means that we don’t have to share- we can have one each!! This means no childish squabbles, complicated lending schemes, coin tosses, staring competitions, games of Jenga, Rock, Scissor, Paper tournaments (that often go on for days) or arm wrestling matches to see who gets to keep what….not that we’re competitive at all.
After the awards, we drove straight up to Manchester to continue the Britain’s Got Talent auditions. We’re well under way now, and as usual we’re astonished at the amount of genuine talent that shows up, as well as the amount of…shall we say ‘eccentric’ people that come to flaunt their skills to an increasingly hard-to-please Simon Cowell. After the amazing talent last year, it’s taking a lot to impress the panel, but trust us when we say there are some amazing acts coming through, as well as some phenomenally odd ones receiving the dreaded three buzzes…stay tuned to Officialantanddec.com for more info!
Elsewhere, our new show ‘Push the Button’ is getting closer and closer! Now this is something we’re REALLY excited about. We’ve recorded the promo (which you’ll be able to see soon) and we’re in the final stages of prepping the show, recruiting families, fine tuning the games and generally getting ready for what we think is going to be a great series. It’s fantastic family fun that we can’t wait to share with all of you.
And so, busy busy busy! We’re off to the wings to watch more hopefuls do their best to impress Simon, Amanda and Piers. Wish us luck!
