Hi All,
Hope you’re all well and that you’ve been enjoying the serialisation of the book this week, it has been a little nerve racking for us as it’s the first glimpses people have had but so far we have had some nice reactions to it here on the website (thank you!) and from people in the street saying that they found the extracts in The Sun very funny, honest and sometimes quite touching. Not long now until the full book comes out on the 17th and we can’t wait for you to read the whole thing. There has been lots of book promotion to do recently; we have been doing more press interviews (just done The Daily Mail, Woman, Heat and The Daily Star today!) as well as some stuff like Esquire and Q magazine which is already on the newsstands. We’re getting ready to do all the TV appearances that are planned as well as the book signings too. They are still getting finalised now but we will put the list up on the website as soon as we have it so you can come along and see us.
We have just come back from Edinburgh where we visited the Television Festival. We had a couple of sessions to do including a no holds barred chat with the ITV News anchorman Mark Austin about our 20 years in television and our experiences. There were a few tricky questions but on the whole it was actually quite enjoyable and quite good fun. We took the opportunity to catch a couple of shows while we were there including a fantastic play called ‘Morecambe’. It was a one man show about the life of one of our heroes Eric Morecambe, and it was amazing. The actor, Bob Golding was spookily brilliant as Eric and it was expertly written by Tim Witnall. It’s apparently going on tour soon and hopefully into the West End next year so if you’re a fan of Morecambe and Wise, (like what we are!), you should definitely see it.
In stark contrast we also saw Jimmy Carr, who was very funny… and very, very rude! We have known Jimmy for quite a while, he starred in Alien Autopsy with us and we’ve seen him live about three times. He is a lovely fella, he always invites us down to his shows and gives us free tickets which is nice, so well done Jimmy! You’re welcome down at Saturday Night Takeaway whenever you want! We had a few beers with him after the show and then a few more drinks over the Bank Holiday weekend which ended with us at an end of summer BBQ at Philip Schofield’s house which was very nice! He had lovely bangers… and the food was good too. Boom boom!
But we’re back to work now, getting ready to unleash our ‘lovely pair’ and hopefully coming to a bookstore near you!
See you soon.
