Britain’s Got Talent - Week 2

April 20th, 2009

We’re just two weeks in to the third series of Britain’s Got Talent and we didn’t think it was possible for the show to get even more thrilling and exciting - but it definitely has! Saturday’s show saw more ridiculous, tear-jerking and mind-boggling acts and of course some priceless comments from the judges .

The “ahhhh” factor this week came from 12-year old Shaheen Jarfargholi who belted out a version of his granddad’s favourite song Valerie but was promptly cut short by Simon, who said it was a “total disaster” and requested he sing another song - luckily Shaheen had one ready and his version of Michael Jackson’s Who’s Loving You gave judge Amanda goose bumps. She remarked that she felt the same way when she first heard past winners Paul Potts and George Sampson perform, so maybe that means good things ahead for the courageous young singer?

The “yuck” factor was provided by Peter Coghlan AKA Mamma Trish, whose unusual belly dancing technique left the audience and judges alike pretty revolted. If you fancy checking out what he did, head over to the official Britain’s Got Talent site now, but be warned it may put you off your lunch. Louise Moores and her African grey parrot Harry failed to bring their unique brand of animal magic to the stage. Harry was supposed to copy owner Louise’s singing but instead the stunned bird kept his beak firmly shut, so it was bye bye birdie.

Simon said Singing Souls were “one of the worst groups he’d heard in his life” (and don’t forget he’s heard a few bad ones in his time) but the feisty girls weren’t going out without a battle. Fiery Hannah seemed prepared for a fight with Simon and declared she thought the girls could be bigger than the Spice Girls and invited Simon to come up on stage and sing after the girls were given three big buzzes off.  ”You sing and I judge - that’s the way it goes”, replied Simon. Touché, Mr. Cowell!

Music teacher Julian Smith got a standing ovation for his jazz soprano saxophone performance and nearly made Amanda cry (again), proving that the range of talent in this year’s competition is varied, unusual and completely unexpected at times! We can’t wait to see what week three will bring! Let us know who your faves from this week were.

Loz says:

Pish: Bec and Kez and i thought about putting an act together to meet the boys, then just running away before we had to go on!

Think it was a reinactment of the thomas the tank engine tune.

Thats how lovely and special the lads are they make us do silly things!

Holzii says:

answering pish’s question to would u go and audition just 2 c Ant and Dec and the answer is OF COURSE but i dont have a talent that is ridiculous enough for them to put me infront of the judges. so never mind. :( xxx

Jude says:

Another great show. I can’t wait for next week!

love

Pish says:

Every act that goes on meets Ant and Dec whether it gets shown on TV or not! It’s in case they miss the winner, like they did with Paul Potts! Hands up who has considered auditioning for BGT just to meet the lads?!

Holzii says:

i thought that Shaheen was amazing, im sure that he will do really well in the comp. funniest acts i would say this week were the belly dancer and stars wars takes on micheal jackson. hilarious especially when he started shouting at ant coz he would give his light sabre back. lol. no gud show guys i was gutted that it was only on an hour though and it seems that the show is airing later and later which is annoying as i av 2 wait longer 2 c u guys. anyway cant wait 4 sat, kisses always holz xxx

Becky says:

yeah you know i kinda agree with Loz they didnt seem like they wanted to be there on stage but we didnt see them with Ant & Dec so i dont know what they were thinking.

hayley says:

What can i say show 2 just as good as the first show! Mamma trisha was so funny but did make me feel a bit sick! Shaheen was just brill and he was such a brilliant singer! I couldnt stand that girl in the singing souls she was a bit to gobby and had a bit to much attitude. my fav bit was when ant and dec couldnt decide whether the foam entinguisher would help put out the fire lol role on next saturday! cant wait

Kirsty says:

Hi enjoyed the show (apart from the belly dancer - how did he get through!!!) Julian was fantastic. I also loved it when Ant had the light sabre althrough I thought Ant and Dec were going to be hit by that guy.

Sloody says:

Enjoyed the show - the (non)singing parrot made me laugh. The misery guts from Singing Souls is an embarrassment to Wales. Shaheen was brill! Sax player was good too.
Long way to go yet - many more “discoveries” waiting in the wings I bet.
Strange thing happened whilst watching BGMT - Stephen Mulhern made me laugh! Can’t for the life of me remember why now - thought it would never happen - I need a lie down!
Oh yeah - blue shirt with white collar is A1 Dec! Xx

Livstar says:

darth jackson was different. lol. i loved it when ant was playing with his light sabre. ANT YOU ARE THE BESTEST! ur like a kid… lol.

i wish i had the kind of talent to go on britains got talent with. im a budding writer…. you can’t really make a performance out of it. lol.

Livstar says:

well… not quite as good as the first show… but then it’s to be expected… u need the bestest stuff at the begining to draw ppl in. i did like the male belly dancer, but at the same time i was totally grossed out by him. i think i liked his awesome wig and thts about it. lol. the saxophone guy was amazing. really cool. i like all kinds of music and he was really good.

the singing souls. well.. the two quiet girls on the left were at least decent ppl, and dealt with it quite well. it’s like they don’t even wanna be hannah’s friend. it looks like a big peerr pressure thing to me. hannah is awful! she has a bad attitude and is a bad loser. she even stuck her tongue out! now tht is low… u only do tht when u dont no wt else to say. pathetic.

Lucy Love (15) says:

best episode yet
i have a really bad gag reflex and i was nearly sick when i was watching that mamma trish
the sax man was amzing
and so was shaheenn

so cutee

lol
cant wait for next week.

Chloe says:

Saturdays Britain’s Got talent was great J Shaheen’s voice is brilliant and Julian on the saxophone is amazing. Loved it when you couldn’t put out the fire and didn’t know which fire extinguisher to use… soo funny. The belly dancing man was really funny but a bit freaky… made me cringe. Cant wait for the next show, I am really enjoying this series, and you 2 make it so funny. Love you Dec x
Lots of love
xxxxxxxxxxx

Chocolate EClaire says:

Hi Guys,
Saturdays show was excellent as usuall. Shaheen was amazing I couldn’t believe a 12 year old kid could sing like that, but then again remember Connie Talbot. I thought Darth Jackson was hillarius especially when Ant “stole” his light saber.
looking forward to next week.
Talk soon
Love Claire xxoo

Danielle says:

I loved it when Ant grabbed Darth Jacksons light sabre and wouldn’t give it back to him cos he was to busy playing with it himself

Loz says:

i felt sorry for the two girls with glasses behind the gobby one- i think they had been took into the auditions kicking and screaming =|

either that or they just went to meet Ant & Dec- then suddenly remembered that they had to perform soon after =|

Abby says:

Kat says:
